Did they ever put Flight Simulator onto any of the gaming consoles or is it only for Windows? (and an very early version for Macintosh)

@The_T @onfy Was about to ask whether that's the expensive new gaming console, but that's the PS5, isn't it?

@vaporeon_ @onfy you miiight be able to find a used xbox one? but it'd be more useful to get an xbox series s, which can run xbox one games...

that said, I'd thought you'd have Microsoft too much to buy their console

@The_T @vaporeon_ @onfy Microsoft is a current BDS target anyway so i would judge anybody buying an xbox that wasn’t used and buying any games that weren’t used

@aescling @The_T @vaporeon_ fortunately i only have the first xbox from 2001 and i got it used a few years ago. ever since i swore to custom build to avoid the microslop tax they're getting nothing from me

@onfy @aescling @vaporeon_ yeah, I don't imagine I'll get a Series X or anything beyond it. My one reason to get one (Sonic Unleashed playable in 60 FPS) has been obsoleted by that PC build those folks developed

@aescling @onfy @vaporeon_ I'll play it soon! In my Stream series of play all the Sonics I'm... currently stuck on 3D Blast. But ever so close to Adventure, and when I get there it'll really take off.

@The_T @aescling @vaporeon_ it's too hard to justify new consoles simply for the price... even if you don't have a good enough pc to play the newest big games that matters so much less now

@onfy @The_T @aescling Yeah, even if I saved up for a Nintendo Switch... Games cost a lot of money, too... New Pokémon Snap, Let's Go Eevee, whatever that Mario game was, Pokémon with Gigantamax, Pokémon with Quaxly, and so on...

@onfy @aescling @vaporeon_ yeah; and at this point, having a decent PC is slightly more achievable, and so much more worth the money than a console is. PC releases of games are basically universal and you'll never have to worry about a console upgrade making older games harder to play. On PC, 360-era games still work just fine (as long as they did on PC originally.)

@The_T @aescling @vaporeon_ while the industry is admittedly doing everything they can to make getting a new pc impossible, fortunately you can still buy an old optiplex and just pirate every game

@onfy @aescling @vaporeon_ yeah. I feel like we've also hit a hardware level where games don't... need newer hardware.

Also helps that I have so little interest in the latest top of the line games...

@The_T @onfy @vaporeon_ the diffurence between NES and PS3 vs PS3 and PS5 Pro or whatever silly name they have to the PS5 2

@The_T @aescling @vaporeon_ i've mentioned it before but in 2021 i built a new pretty strong pc expecting there would be new games coming out that need the hardware... and ended up being puzzlingly disappointed
it's still good that i bought it but i could've just as well just gotten a few hundred dollars of replacement parts for my old pc and kept using it for the next decade

@onfy @aescling @vaporeon_ yeah, when I built my PC, I was specifically targeting "being able to play new-ish games while also streaming and having no issues"

(I forget what year this was but probably circa 2021-2023 or so)

@The_T @aescling @vaporeon_ iirc you have a 2000 series ryzen... i have a 3100, having gotten a bx500 (was that what it was called) board expecting to upgrade to a 4000 5000 series processor... which never happened anyway
come to think, isn't intel a BDS target?

@The_T @aescling @vaporeon_ anyway, at least upgrading from 3100 to 5800 or something will be a pretty good upgrade in 50 years

@onfy @aescling @vaporeon_ yeah, 2700X. And yeah, thinking now it might have been 2001. My grasp of time is poor.

@onfy @aescling @vaporeon_ oh, just realized: I did upgrade the GPU later, that wasn't the one from when I first built it

I sent that one to another friend in hopes of helping their rig stream better games, but unfortunately they were bottlenecked elsewhere

@The_T @aescling @vaporeon_ when i bought the computer i reused my old card, an rx 550! a very silly pairing, but functional

@The_T @aescling @vaporeon_ soon after i managed to snatch the 5600 for a rather good price, it might've even cost less than the 550 did

@vaporeon_ @onfy @aescling yeah you've complained about that plenty but honestly I think it helps

@onfy @vaporeon_ @aescling I do think if you could get free space/time from your mum you could stream online games with us from your home.

@The_T @vaporeon_ @aescling she's pretty much always home these days since she's unemployed and she (justly) likes to bitch about a certain person

@The_T @vaporeon_ @aescling she can also hear me both when she's downstairs and in her bedroom, and my talking prevents her sleeping which she complains about
i can be watching a video and it doesn't keep her awake, only my own voice does

@onfy @vaporeon_ @aescling yeah; I think you just need to, assert your independence more and make her know you need free time sometimes

@The_T @vaporeon_ @aescling she doesn't really have anywhere to go. she went to a con today but told me she came home early because it was "boring"

@The_T @onfy @aescling I don't think parents generally listen to their children about that sort of thing

@vaporeon_ @The_T @aescling i definitely am not allowed to talk back on pretty much anything anymore

@vaporeon_ @The_T @aescling honestly surprising she let me stick my antenna in her bedroom, though i had to make it invisible

@The_T @aescling @vaporeon_ 3100 was out in 2021 but you could definitely buy a 2000 series cpu too then. it was an intentional choice for me to buy the 3100

@The_T @onfy @vaporeon_ it sucks that Nintendo sucks because i only care about their new games lol
