@vaporeon_ xbox one...
@onfy How old is Xbox One?
@vaporeon_ @onfy not very
@vaporeon_ @onfy you miiight be able to find a used xbox one? but it'd be more useful to get an xbox series s, which can run xbox one games...
that said, I'd thought you'd have Microsoft too much to buy their console
@The_T @vaporeon_ @onfy Microsoft is a current BDS target anyway so i would judge anybody buying an xbox that wasn’t used and buying any games that weren’t used
@aescling @The_T @vaporeon_ fortunately i only have the first xbox from 2001 and i got it used a few years ago. ever since i swore to custom build to avoid the microslop tax they're getting nothing from me
@onfy @aescling @vaporeon_ yeah, I don't imagine I'll get a Series X or anything beyond it. My one reason to get one (Sonic Unleashed playable in 60 FPS) has been obsoleted by that PC build those folks developed
@The_T @aescling @vaporeon_ it's too hard to justify new consoles simply for the price... even if you don't have a good enough pc to play the newest big games that matters so much less now
@onfy @aescling @vaporeon_ yeah; and at this point, having a decent PC is slightly more achievable, and so much more worth the money than a console is. PC releases of games are basically universal and you'll never have to worry about a console upgrade making older games harder to play. On PC, 360-era games still work just fine (as long as they did on PC originally.)
@The_T @aescling @vaporeon_ while the industry is admittedly doing everything they can to make getting a new pc impossible, fortunately you can still buy an old optiplex and just pirate every game
@onfy @aescling @vaporeon_ yeah. I feel like we've also hit a hardware level where games don't... need newer hardware.
Also helps that I have so little interest in the latest top of the line games...
@The_T @aescling @vaporeon_ i've mentioned it before but in 2021 i built a new pretty strong pc expecting there would be new games coming out that need the hardware... and ended up being puzzlingly disappointed
it's still good that i bought it but i could've just as well just gotten a few hundred dollars of replacement parts for my old pc and kept using it for the next decade
@onfy @aescling @vaporeon_ yeah, when I built my PC, I was specifically targeting "being able to play new-ish games while also streaming and having no issues"
(I forget what year this was but probably circa 2021-2023 or so)
@onfy @The_T @vaporeon_ yes
