i did this, although i feel like i might pick slightly different options depending on the day lol

@Lucy I find things like this to be reductive. Having to choose one item for each game and the excessive specificity removes the opportunity for nuance when games can fit into multiple boxes or when multiple games can fit in a category with room for only one game. And in the algorithm-driven world where art is carefully organized into categories so that we are regularly fed art that checks superficial boxes instead of being itself I have qualms about itemizing art this way. Also, here is my grid:

re: no image description

@The_T @wallhackio @Lucy i had just played through sonic unleashed and had a great time when i played generations and that made generations feel like a watered down version of a game i’d rather play instead. after dealing with unleashed’s bullshit and nonsense i felt like the game was too furgiving lol, and that ever stage felt too bite-sized

the best part of the game fur me by far was the unrespectedly unsettling overworld puzzle platfurming right befur the final boss. it made me feel that the developers really wanted the game to be something more than just a fun time nostalgia romp, but also that they didn’t really get to fully execute on whatever that would have been

@aescling @wallhackio @Lucy I agree that Unleashed is straight up better, but Generations is also amazing in every way. With that said, I think Unleashed could have been slightly better with a little bit trimmed off (some of the bosses were a bit much, most of the DLC isn't fun, most of the Challenges are very not fun) and Generations could have been better with a little more (more stages rather than Challenges; but for the most part the Challenges are good and varied.)

@The_T @wallhackio @Lucy i straight up disagree that it is ”amazing in every way” but i do think it is fun

@aescling @wallhackio @Lucy and I guess what made Generations work was at the time I played it, every single game it covered was deeply important to me. Sonic 1, 2, 3. Even '06. Definitely the Sonic Adventures, Heroes.
