@hoja hi @Satsuma i am completely ignorant of the context required to understand this and i am blaming you fur bringing that to my attention

@aescling @Satsuma the pope wrote a letter and the second council of ephesus refused to read it and catholics now claim this letter was the first instance of papal infallibility

@hoja @aescling Tome to Flavian pissed some people off so badly they schismed and formed the a whole new church about it (known as the Oriental Orthodox Churches today)

@aescling @Satsuma Leo then denounced that council and immediately convened another one (Chalcedon) where « After the reading of the letter, the bishops cried out: "This is the faith of the fathers, this is the faith of the Apostles. So we all believe, thus the orthodox believe. ... Peter has spoken thus through Leo. So taught the Apostles. Piously and truly did Leo teach, so taught Cyril. Everlasting be the memory of Cyril. Leo and Cyril taught the same thing, ... This is the true faith ... This is the faith of the fathers. Why were not these things read at Ephesus?" » (per Wikipedia)

@hoja @aescling anyway hoja, apparently your mistake was just asking kitty about her stance on filioque instead of teaching kitty about the history of christian theology via memes
