People will really look at a story about fascist bureaucracy and its tendency to work against itself due to the individual self-interest inherent in the fascist program and think it's a story about girlboss feminism because it focuses on a woman

@aescling Specifically one of the stories is about a supervisor of the Imperial Security Bureau who happens to be a woman and I've seen some TAKES about it

@coriander now idk if this would ever be a story WORTH writing but i wonder if it might ever be appropriate to write a story critiquing girlboss feminism adopted into and in service of contemporary fascism

feels plausible to me but i don't even know if there’s even really like, This Is A Thing That Happens

@aescling I think that COULD be a really interesting story to tell, yeah, examine the co-opting of seemingly revolutionary ideology and aesthetics in service of fascism, which is a known tactic

But that's not even what this story was doing, literally nothing in the story was saying anything feminist beyond "Women have internal lives"

@coriander @aescling “damn quick they tricked disney into putting out antifascist materials again we gotta spin this to liberalism somehow”

@Lady @aescling "Actually the show talking about how to violently fight fascism is Bad because uhhhhhh there's a woman in a workplace scenario"

@coriander @aescling “sure, there’s some ‘rebel’ stuff in andor but can we talk about its female characters??”
