apropos of nothing, my opinions on (not reviews of) all the star wars movies
re: apropos of nothing, my opinions on (not reviews of) all the star wars movies
@aescling i think we have very different ideas of what constitutes good direction lol
re: apropos of nothing, my opinions on (not reviews of) all the star wars movies
@aescling if you compare the scenes of Luke on Tatooine in episode iv with the scenes of Rey on Tatooine in episode vii, i think episode iv is far superior
if you compare the scenes of the death star destroying an entire planet in episode iv and the subsequent reaction with the scenes of the starkiller base destroying an entire solar system in episode vii and the subsequent reaction, i think episode iv is far superior
i feel like what you would call “interesting” i would call “gratuitous” lol; j.j. doesn’t know how to let a scene breathe
re: apropos of nothing, my opinions on (not reviews of) all the star wars movies
@Lady i agree that rey's intro would be better if it breathed more but i do think it is one of the parts of VII that actually still works
i will note that i deliberately said "interesting" as opposed to "good" or "competent"

@Lady lol

@aescling there is this one moment in rey’s introduction scene where she is packing things onto her speeder and the camera angle changes like four times in three seconds and that is the kind of unnecessary bullshit which just completely turned me off of the film
like are you really so incompetent at holding a camera that you can’t do that in one shot
