help i have developed my identity around a hobby that only people who are either evil or traumatized do. now the only spaces i can go to talk about it are full of people who are either evil or traumatized. how do i fix this
@Lady I am trying to guess the hobby from this description and what I know about you and am being less successful than one might think. (Unless it's just "computers" and an implication that computer people must be in one of the two categories, but I don't *think* you think that's true.)
@aschmitz @Lady i mean i think its weakly true for computers in the sense that theres a high correlation between spending lots of time online and being relatively disconnected from ones irl communities, and also a high overlap between being relatively disconnected from ones irl communities and being traumatized and/or prone to asocial behaviors
@Satsuma @aschmitz yeah “being online" is arguably one even if “computers” more generally is not
the best computer people are not very online
