@HoneyMoon Possibly

I know my dad did teach me when I was young how to use a tape measure properly so I am definitely open to "Coriander you actually are in the minority here" but it honestly does feel wild to me that adults wouldn't know where to find 3 3/8" on a tape measure

@witchfynder_finder @HoneyMoon@monads.online i might have to count the smallest notches to check what their division is (is 16ths standard?) but I could easily measure just like, 18 inches, or 3 3/8ths yeah

@Satsuma @witchfynder_finder @HoneyMoon@monads.online 1/16 is standard for the whole tape but the first few inches usually will have 1/32

@Lady @witchfynder_finder @HoneyMoon@monads.online yeah see thats something i’d have to check to figure out

@Satsuma @witchfynder_finder @HoneyMoon@monads.online some measures will label it but many won’t

but yeah understanding “it’s powers of two” definitely makes figuring that stuff out much easier; i think some people might assume decimal

@Satsuma @witchfynder_finder @HoneyMoon@monads.online also understanding that the 1/4 line is also the 2/8 line; in europe they don’t have fractions so europeans might get confused
