@amy I will never understand why every computer seems to default to fonts where i and L look the same
@coriander I mean it's because serif fonts have a time and a place and it's not here IMO
@coriander I think that 99% of the time it's obvious from context and an occasional miss doesn't mean we all have to start reading serif fonts
@amy I think serifs are good actually
@coriander @amy goblin would like serif fonts. this scans somehow
@coriander @aescling @amy i used to think Times New Roman was the boring essay font but then i stopped writing essays and now i realize it is good
@aescling @coriander @amy to which half
@Lady @coriander @amy thinking it is good
@Lady @coriander @amy okay i will relax my judgement, it’s good. i do purrefur the other font æsthetically but it is just true that times new roman reads extremely well
@coriander @aescling @amy the fact that it is the font used by dictionaries and encyclopedias in the late twentieth century definitely is for me
@coriander @Lady @aescling It's a perfectly good essay font, but I don't want to read Times New Roman Mastodon posts
@amy @coriander @Lady @aescling setting my line spacing to 2.1 and increasing the size of my margins to get one over on the posting teacher
@amy @coriander @aescling Mastodon posts are not classy enough for The Times ![]()
@amy @coriander @aescling are you a dark mode user? most serifs are designed for light mode text, which is to say, paper, where·as sans serifs suffer less when used in environments they were not designed for
@Lady @coriander @amy cannot relate
