one of the funniest recurring things in the matrix 4 is just how often a character explicitly points out that a nonmeaningful choice is not a choice because apparently some people just did not get what the matrix reloaded was really going out of its way to point out

@aescling I liked the part when the climax of the movie was a conversation about how the movie you were watching had no reason to exist

@coriander not just the climax, that frustration exists throughout the text lol

@aescling @coriander i disagree that the movie is frustrated; i think the message of the film is that Neo went back into the Matrix for love, and it was the goal of capitalism to keep him close but just far enough from love to keep him working but not in a revolutionary manner

@aescling @coriander i mean that is frustration but not with the act of creating the movie

@aescling @coriander the final punchline of the movie is the protagonists looking the figure of capitalism in the face and saying thank you for giving us another chance to remake the world

@aescling @coriander the entire first half of the movie is a lesbian repeatedly saying “Neo’s saga changed my life and that is why i want to bring him back even though everybody thinks he is dead” and Neo saying “i can’t because capitalism told me it is just a video game and not real” and the lesbian saying “fuck that mind prison”

@aescling @coriander if there is a frustration in the act of making the movie it is in the fact that they aren’t able to do cool action sequences like they used to

@Lady @coriander the movie survives that issue but it is definitely much worse off fur it
