@aescling it's a generalized subtoot, but it's more about people who pose as progressives while hijacking celebrity culture to their own benefit than capitalists in general, the sorts of people who might have a leftist project which they consider their baby and are oddly resistant to crowdsourcing control of, despite only getting where they are by crowdsourcing its labour and finances

@aescling it is especially a subtoot of those people who might set up a patreon for said project when they don't even have a material product yet, with the implicit assumption that when such a product is developed, it will remain entirely under their control, and of the people who are uncritically willing to fund that project on those terms instead of demanding democratic control or decisionmaking
