i don't think i’ve ever read a breath of the wild fanfic where the author’s knowledge of the other games added meaningfully to the story
this was part of a long complaint about how twilight princess’s depiction of a traditional european fantasy world in decay was simultaneously interesting and frustrating in that it meant that classical european texts like greek and roman mythologies were very relevant and useful cues
i don't want to write about greek and roman mythologies; it's been done
i talk with my girlfriend about some of my twilight princess fanfic plans and i have to be like “yeah i need to be careful not to think too hard about breath of the wild when i’m doing this because the two are really not aesthetically compatible at all”
