i don't think i’ve ever read a breath of the wild fanfic where the author’s knowledge of the other games added meaningfully to the story
only having played breath of the wild is fine, good even
i talk with my girlfriend about some of my twilight princess fanfic plans and i have to be like “yeah i need to be careful not to think too hard about breath of the wild when i’m doing this because the two are really not aesthetically compatible at all”
this was part of a long complaint about how twilight princess’s depiction of a traditional european fantasy world in decay was simultaneously interesting and frustrating in that it meant that classical european texts like greek and roman mythologies were very relevant and useful cues
