re: Food
@Lucy looks weird and tasty
re: Food
@wallhackio it's just a light batter and corn fried together, it's quite good
re: Food
@Lucy i do have some corn in the fridge... and i have a fuckton of peanut oil that i bought from Costco............
re: Food
@Lucy okay I finally made this shit
I fucked it up real bad the first time and forgot to add sparkling water. This caused the kernels not to congeal at all and I had to fish all of them out of the oil with a mesh strainer, very annoying
The one in the image was too fat, so there was a lot of uncrusted kernels inside which actually was a pretty interesting eating experience in its own right, crunchy on the outside and gooey on the inside.
The seasonings listed in the recipe were way too little, I would at least double it on another attempt
I had issues with some violent popping that causes massive oil splatters that felt quite dangerous, did you have this issue?
re: Food
@Lucy oh you're totally fine Lucy, i was just wondering if i did something wrong regarding the splattering
thanks for sharing the recipe tho it was tasty and fun to make
re: Food
@wallhackio im glad you liked it!! i wanna make it again soon too
re: Food
@wallhackio i did have a similar issue with some popping i definitely should have warned you about, sorry!! i have a mesh covering for when i shallow fry stuff for pops like that which helped a lot with mine, i dont know if yours was more aggressive though.
i shaped mine with the back of big spoon after dropping them into the oil, sorta flattening them out as much as possible and then using another utensil to be sure to scrape it off the back.
and i always season stuff to taste anyway so i didnt notice how light the seasoning was on that recipe oops, i mostly just used that recipe for the batter ratio
