A buddy of mine, in response to Blender taking money from Anthropic and specifically worries that this is going to make Blender Really Bad, simply replied "Good, if it gets bad they can fork" and, man, I think this is one of the worst standpoints open source people have

@coriander forking blender is only good if you do so with the infrastructure in place to maintain something as complex as blender
it can be done, but it is not easy.
