@onfy In the English version, what's the gender of the duck?
@vaporeon_ @onfy I've only seen one episode in my entire life but from what I can tell the ducks gender is never stated
@vaporeon_ @onfy the official website says it's a he
@vaporeon_ @wallhackio yes, duck is male
in spanish it's sarah y pato
@vaporeon_ @wallhackio i just remembered something silly
in french, the word for moon ("lune") is grammatically female
for whatever reason they fucking changed moon (male in english) to female, even being voiced by a woman!
and there's episodes where moon has a crush on mars (still female in french lol)
@vaporeon_ @wallhackio btw, the quacking sounds duck makes (they're stock sfx) are of a female duck
@wallhackio @onfy There's an official website?
I suppose that makes sense, only male ducks get a bright green head and grey feathers
Just the Russian version always refers to it as утка, which is a grammatically female word, so they refer to the duck as "she" and with the female verb forms
I wouldn't read too much into it, ducks are female by default, and селезень is harder to pronounce, so it make sense that instead they'd use утка in a cartoon for little children
(In German, "Ente" is grammatically female, too, I wonder what the German version does)
