:ying_think: which piece of media is responsible for canonizing Sonic being a fan of chili dogs? i feel like it's gotta be either the archie comics or the AoSTH cartoon...

i had to go to fandom wiki (boo!) to find out, apparently AoSTH is the thing that established it, allegedly

Do chilli dogs exist in real life or did they make those up for Sonic?

@sudo_EatPant I assume that nothing is stopping anyone from making a chilli dog in real life if they want to, but also I've never seen any...

@vaporeon_ @sudo_EatPant chilli dogs are real, we had them occasionally growing up. might be an American thing maybe?

@wallhackio @sudo_EatPant I'm aware of regular hot dogs, but what's the chilli part? Spicy spicy sauce for very spicy hot dog?

@vaporeon_ @wallhackio the "chili" on a chili dog is kind of like a chunky spicy stew that has beef, beans, and tomatos in it. and chili peppers or powder. i didnt know before now but according to wikipedia the real name of it is "chili con carne" and in america we just shorten it to "chili"

@sudo_EatPant @wallhackio I find it weird how you shorten "chilli con carne" to "chilli", to me, chilli is the pepper itself 🌶️ , and maybe you'd process it into a powder or a sauce, or into chilli con carne

@sudo_EatPant @wallhackio How does chilli con carne not fall off the chilli dog? At least in the version of chilli con carne that I tried, it was liquid enough that it'd have flowed off...

Follow

@vaporeon_ @sudo_EatPant if you use a high fat ground beef the fat will make the sauce richer, and you can simmer the chili on a stove for a long long time to reduce the sauce and make it more viscous
