dude amy got pissed the fuck off last night but she was right at least

someone who was lurking came out of lurk to say "amy you're really abrasive to talk to today" which i think is pretty unusual for her

people were being rude and talking down to her for the horrible sin of "thinking the new youtube ui update is good"

someone was insisting that it's actually trivially easy for youtube to just offer an option to use the old UI forever and when amy explained why that kind of thinking doesn't scale they tried to explain to her what CSS is. lmao fucking prick

"If you have n options to modify the state of your app (where, if you insist on having a toggle for every change to the UI, n is going to be high) then you have 2^n states to worry about maintaining, 2^n states to worry about breaking every time you make any change to anything, 2^n states to make a confused user choose between their settings page..."

"are you seriously trying to tell me that youtube doesn't have the bandwidth to serve two different users different CSS files?"

"...No! I'm not doing that! What the fuck?!"

"youtube is a megacorp they could pull it off easily" is such a fucked up thing to say about a problem that you're being told scales badly as a system gets larger
