People in the past few years have been saying Speed Racer was good
I need to revisit it because when I saw it in 2011 I did NOT think it was good
@coriander honestly this is example #1 in my brain about how a lot of cult classics aren't so much in the wrong time as much as like, they need time to just sit there quietly and be removed from the usual expectations you'd bring into a movie
the movie beats you SO hard with the campy nonsense and i think so much rides on it being delightful that this is a world where a kid's name is just first name Speed, last name Racer
