damn I haven’t played genshin in like 2 or 3 years because of the racism and also just the fact that I felt like the plot was becoming a bunch of repetitive filler and was just stringing the player along with zero additional information. but they just dropped a huge lore bomb and finally showed the character I’ve been most interested in from the start (rhinedottir) and now they got me thinking autistically about the plot again

@cam ive never engaged with genshin at all, what is the deal with racism?

@wallhackio it's pretty generic chinese character design racism in that everyone is super pale. every nation is more or less based on a nation/general geographical region from the real world, and I was able to tolerate the first three (germany, china and japan) having few to no characters skin darker than #FFFFFF but it became frustrating when the nations based on the middle east and south america were both inhabited by mostly pale as fuck people and the gods of those nations were both pale as fuck

@wallhackio I don't really remember any overtly racist narratives but I don't remember the fine details of the story all that well. they do have pretty solid nods to the golden age of scientific advancement in the middle east/north africa (each nation has like a specific value they uphold and that nation's is wisdom) but I do remember the token mascot character saying some dumbass stuff about how she didn't want to eat some of the foods there even though she literally wants to eat slimes

@wallhackio I think it was a complaint about a festival having purely vegetarian food which sort of made sense because she's mostly obsessed with meat, but iirc there was one thing she said about being hesitant about one dish, I forget what it was but it wasn't even anything particularly "exotic"
