amusing interaction that just happened to me:

these days i mostly don't walk with a cane anymore, but because i knew i'd be walking so much this weekend, i am using it just preemptively. since i know that by the end of the day i'll wish i had

i was taking an escalator up and thought "maybe i can walk up the step?" so i put my cane and my bad leg up one step, thought about it and went "no, i'm not doing this" and just rode up at escalator speed

someone behind me passed me when they realized i wasn't going to be walking, and i realized i was kind of in the way, so i just reflexively went "oh, sorry"

they turned around, looked me up and down, gestured at the cane, and went "bro. are you s-- brooo. you don't have to... are you serious? BRO."

@coriander in my defense, if i had known someone was behind me i would genuinely have taken up a bit less room. it would have been easy for me

it's not a big deal, but you can apologize for small deals

@monorail @coriander by "taking up less room" does that mean letting Amy step in
