At this point the best way I can describe my sleep issues in a way that I think people will relate to and understand is that my sleep schedule is like the top of your desk
Slowly it gets messier and messier until it becomes unbearable and then I have to take drastic measures to get it back in order and then I say to myself "Whew! I'm never gonna let THAT happen again!"
