you can argue that the inclusive counting thing is a legitimate convention but consider: after the introduction of the Julian calendar, for the next 34 years the priests in charge of the calendar got confused and added a leap day every third year instead of every fourth.
it really is amazing just how bad the ancient romans were at counting.

big disadvantage of playing with strangers is that, compared to playing with friends, it both:
- increases the likelihood of interpersonal conflicts
- decreases the motivation for (+ increases the difficulty and emotional cost of) working through those conflicts
