the proto-language has a tripartite noun-class system whose classes are i am tentatively calling "warm", "cold", "immaterial". as is common, some nouns make those names seem totally ridiculous. for example, tooth (ekańaš2, pronounced [ekæŋæʃ˧]) is immaterial

currently working on the as-yet unnamed proto-language that most of the contemporary languages of the monitor-lizard-people of the western grasslands and forests are descended from. (planned for later: four child languages of it, an unrelated language, and three vulgar-latin-style dialects of one of the child languages in regions where the other child languages and the unrelated language were the main local languages)

i have not been working more on Ifadätels due to not needing more details about it yet, but i did do some world-building on a different setting on thursday and then yesterday and today i've been doing different conlanging for that world :3

not to endorse turning a beach into an artificially forested beach town, but sand streets are neat

very curious why there was a single building along the highway that’s been tagged by several people. who is pulling off the highway in the countryside to tag a building. and also why only that one? there was another building just past that one. plus lots of other buildings along the highway.

tv shows mix their intro music so loud relative to other sound in the show so that when your neighbors in an apartment building are watching a show you hear the intro music and think of the show and are more likely to watch it more

thinking about getting into conlanging

hmm, would a hedonistic wizard have a larger bathing chamber or a larger bedchamber? opinions welcome

the awkward thing about playing fetch with the cat is sometimes she misses me throwing the hairband and it is not really possible to get her to realize that the hairband lying on the floor a ways away is in fact the one she brought me to throw for her.

i didn't know cats liked to play fetch

started my new pathfinder 2e campaign. they made their characters and we got in a quick little fight that they won handily. i think the fighter felt pretty good about starting the campaign off with a crit one-shotting a person who was attacking them.

toki pona speakers were very wise when they came up with what head noun prefixes your name when referring to you as a means of identity-expression

highly recommend spilling a little bit of water on one sometime

possibly at some point i should figure out a way to make it actually apparent to the players that ~⅓ of all NPCs in the games i run are trans

it is both inconvenient and convenient as a person learning another language.

inconvenient in that it makes it sometimes more difficult to make some distinctions between spanish sounds not in english (or to not distinguish sounds distinguished in english but not in spanish)

but also convenient that probably nobody's even gonna notice how I pronounce b/v or s/z (even Sofi with zir native-level English fluency has difficulty distinguishing them when specifically listening for it)

the impact of people's (many people's, anyway) native languages on their perception of speech sounds is Neat
