meson seems like it could be really cool.
build tool that can automatically fetch and build dependencies if they're missing.
sadly upon attempting to build any project using it one quickly discovers that this functionality does not actually work

well, i got it installed. carelessly i installed it to a place that isn't actually in the library search path by default but that is fixable
