If I wanted to play one of the Link games, and I've never played any of them, which game should I start with?

@vaporeon_ yeah, but no one calls them "Link games". You call them based on the series name...

alright well, hm.

It depends on what you're after.

Link to the Past is my favorite one, it's very old and 2D, but it's not absurdly hard like the earliest ones. Still, it might be a little hard, later on. But it does ease you into it pretty well.

Ocarina of Time, everyone loves, big open world. But it's also a little dated.

I'd probably also suggest Wind Waker; gameplay is similar to Ocarina of Time but a bit more refined, but the world is a bit less wondrous. Still charming though.

And then I'm sure a lot of people would suggest Breath of the Wild, which I still haven't played yet, but which I understand, formula wise, is extremely different from past games.

@The_T @vaporeon_ wind waker is purrobably the most radical game in the series (the way zelda is handled notwithstanding, yikes)

@aescling I'm curious what you mean by both, and probably worth putting in a spoiler and leaving vappy untagged

wind waker spoilers

@The_T wind waker is a game about how hyrule isn’t remotely worth restoring; in the end the king destroys it and encourages the youth to find their own land, their own future

tetra is a cool and fun tomboyish pirate girl who calls the shots. when revealed to be zelda, her skin is made lighter??? then she gets left alone to be trapped in a tomb until the end of the game, not by choice (it’s fur her purrotection, you see). that bit sucks

re: wind waker spoilers

@aescling yeah. I like the prior part.

It's easier to just pretend the latter doesn't happen because Zelda appears all of like twice after that.

And also honestly her role in the final battle is cool.
