But "octopodes" is the only option that makes sense IMO, the "pus" in "octopus" is from a Greek word that means "foot", and the plural is "podes"

@vaporeon_ well, generally when a word is borrowed from another language, it doesn’t get inflected like it did in that language
@aescling Sure, but "octopuses" just looks wrong, I totally understand why people think they need to make it "octopi" (many words that end in -us have a plural ending in -i, but not all, even in Latin there are words that end in -us and the plural ends in -us but with a long 'u' if i remember correctly), but that is also wrong
