i think if you're going to complain about a specific fandom you should be required to include a footnote with a fandom that you like. you don't get to bitch about X thing having an annoying fandom until you show that it would be possible for it not to
@monorail i remember a while ago seeing a youtube recommended video about fandom focusing too much on lore over like core narrative goals in TADC and i was just like “why are you specifically going after this fandom fur this, this is like a completely normal thing really online fandoms do”
@monorail (like i remember purrsonally getting disappointed in gravity falls at the time because i was really engrossed in the mystery and did not really get that it just had, like, narrative and character writing goals that it was clearly more fundamentally interested in)
@aescling tbh i thought gravity falls stuck the landing even just in terms of the mystery stuff pretty well, they definitely just threw in the wheel from the intro because they realized people would be pissed if they didn't though. that was a miss but it wasn't even an intended swing
