Super Paper Mario’s story would have been a lot better if it didn’t try to convince the player that it’s a good romance story because it’s a deeply tragic and horrifying romance story and does not really commit to recognizing that about itself

idk marrying the epitome of “if i can’t have you i will destroy the whole world and then myself” to stop the apocalypse is not a good ending. but that’s not necessarily bad writing in and of itself
