Uses for what's being sold under the name "AI":
- Scanning everyone's face for mass surveillance
- Accusing innocent people of crimes they didn't commit, based on that surveillance
- Generating convincing-looking racist slop
- Convincing a confused old guy that the LLM (in that particular case, it was Facebook's LLM, instructed by Facebook to pretend to be a real person) is a real person who urgently wants to meet him, and then he falls while running to the train and dies from the fall
- Telling everyone, whether programmers, mathematicians, artists, or others, that their craft doesn't matter and they should leave it to the language model
- Making it even more difficult to get a job

This is The Future or whatever

There also have been claims that when the United States bombed an elementary school in Iran, that the targeting was done by "AI", but I don't believe that, that sounds like a great way to try to absolve yourself of the responsibility, and also we know that the imperialists love doing that sort of thing intentionally without any help from the "AI"

"We didn't do it on purpose, computer told us to"

Veeeeery believable :blobcat_eyeroll:

@vaporeon_ it’s not like it really would absolve them if they’re not lying anyway. the casual evil of just not bothering to check what the computer tells you to do. or of checking, not caring, and then just using the computer as an excuse
