What is a digital speedometer? 
I know that cars have a round thing in them with an arrow pointing at the current speed, but what makes it digital?
@vaporeon_ there is a digital screen on the dashboard next to the speedometer dial. i would like for it to have my speed displayed there with numbers, because i find it easier to read at a glance than trying to read the dial
i can read the dial but i'd like knowing my speed to be as easy as possible

@vaporeon_ that's interesting, where i am cars are moving so much stuff to digital screens that people are trying to get them to stop lmao

@monorail Sorry for the stupid question, but what's the other indicator for? The one that goes from 0 to 8? I think I've seen it before, but as I said, I don't know how to drive a car...
@vaporeon_ @monorail it measures how many revolutions purr minute (RPM) the motor is going through, in units of thousands
apparently the term fur this kind of gague is “tachometer”. i may have known that years ago
@vaporeon_ @monorail if you use manual gear changes (quite uncommon today), you want to pay attention to when the motor is running too high or too low lest you adjust gears at a suboptimal time
@vaporeon_ @monorail also, fur certain kinds of vehicles, like some kinda of trucks, it is desirable to keep the engine running at speeds that generate the most torque

the taco reading doesn’t work though because the stress is on the second syllable and the weak a gets rendered as schwa
