@vaporeon_ @monorail i’ll apparently stop talking hormones entirely at around the time an AFAB version of me would have reached menopause
@aescling @monorail Wow, really? I'm stupid and don't know biology, but do cis women really stop producing the gender hormones at the time of menopause, not just get smaller levels of them?
(Also: cis men don't experience something something like menopause, right? So if I do FTM transition, this doesn't apply, will need to take hormones even when I'm old?)
To be clear, I wouldn't mind, it surely would improve my life a lot and I need to find a way to make it happen, but that's the reason I wouldn't consider it finished. Constant worry about policies that might decide to take them away from us... (Also, travel across borders might be a problem, but also I've read that it's possible to get T injected in a way that it lasts for 3 months, though then it's harder to adjust dosage, so if that's actually an option, perhaps I could just do that before going to another country. Though, "Vaporeon go to another country" is pretty unlikely in the first place due to their other problems...)
@aescling @monorail @vaporeon_ I believe testosterone slowly declines with age but it’s somewhat the same with estrogen (like, estrogen declines in perimenopause and menopause only happens when it hits a threshold level)
@aescling @vaporeon_ @monorail im not a doctor but like, cis women take the same estrogen shots we do when they reach menopause. when i was on pills i remember i was for a while on a very very low dose and started getting menopause symptoms, which arent really pleasant
@vaporeon_ @monorail purrsonally, i would not categorize myself as cis at that time even if i did end up going all the way into transsexuality. but whatever
