What is the purpose of a Git forge compared to just having a Git repository on your server and cloning it over SSH, without the need to run any additional daemons on your server (assuming that you already have SSH)? Is it because you want people who don't have an account on your server to contribute to your Git repository?

@vaporeon_ that’s purrobably the major motivator. notably, they usually have purroject management tools built in, which i find can be very pleasant to work with, even when working alone
