If I wanted to do have a Pokémon battle against another trainer instead of an NPC from the game, how would I do that? If I don't have any real hardware, only the emulator...

@vaporeon_ citra apparently requires somebody to set up a server to emulate “local” wireless play

it would purrobably be easier to use pokémon showdown instead

@amy @aescling I kind of want to try it out, but also I worry about embarassing myself because I'm not familiar with the format at all...

@amy @aescling Can I somehow play against you specifically, so at least I fail miserably against a friend who knows I've never done this before and not a random stranger who would've expected a good battle?

@vaporeon_ @aescling We can play a battle with random teams if you like :)

@amy @aescling Still trying to get a username for myself that this thing accepts... So many of them are already taken...

@amy @aescling OK, the name of my Pokémon Mystery Dungeon character works... Now to find Monorail...

@amy @aescling WadieTheEevee

Actually I clicked on "Find a user" and it let me challenge you, but now: which format? There's a long list and I don't know which to choose

@amy @aescling What does terastalization actually do? Just changes the type of a Pokémon? So that if I terastalize e.g. a Grass type to the Poison type, then Fire-type moves won't be super effective against it anymore?

@vaporeon_ @aescling Yep :) You get STAB for both the new type and the old type, as well. If you tera into a type the pokemon already had, then it gets 2x STAB instead of 1.5x

Follow

@amy @vaporeon_ *meowscarada user voice* notably, terastellizing a pokémon with two types will drop all weaknesses associated with the second type (or, if applicable, both types) while still retaining both STABs
