having grown up as an atheist in the extremely-Christian US of A, it was pretty cool learning as an adult that prayers to deities are not exclusively of the "I am humble before you and putting all my faith in you" variety so well represented in our popular media

and, in fact, that some prayers are more "I will break down the gates of heaven and kick your motherfucking ass"
