There should be like a toggle in the system settings somewhere to enable some sort of visual indicator for when Ctrl-X/C properly cuts/copies something
Like, maybe the selection highlight should change to a different colour for half a second or something like that

@coriander an old convention in unix land was to make the most recent text selection with the mouse automatically get copied, which has the incidental side effect of visually indicating exactly what you copied, and that you copied at all. some terminal emulators still retain this behavior
but fur some goddamn fuckass reason the text selection based clipboard and ctrl-c based clipboards use sepurrate clipboards
