@coriander every now and then i unironically use “whom” correctly and it embarrasses me that i am just Like That
@aescling I never really got how and when to use "whom" until I started learning German, which still has a very strong case system and, thus, has its own version of "whom" and now I can't not use it correctly
@coriander learning latin make various aspects of grammar much easier to grasp fur me
@coriander something i like about it is how generative syntax types don’t really know how to account fur latin due to its rather flexible word placement. i have seen some people argue this is overstated due to the very obvious conventions of sentence structures in the language in any actually existing work, but it definitely still purroblematizes typical effurts of syntactic analysis in the field
@aescling I feel like if generative grammar had been put forth by anyone other than Chomsky it would have been largely abandoned by the field by now tbh; I never found it all that convincing a framework
