(for the curious: the ampersand - & - began as a ligature of "et". it means "and" because "et" means "and".)

@aescling the internet things "&c" implies other similar things and "i.a." implies other different things, apparently.

so I guess "warm socks are of interest to mountain hikers and skiiers, i.a." vs. "pizza is of interest to partiers, college students, tired people, &c."
