You know, maybe it's because it was one of my first true introductions to video games, especially console games, but I honestly feel like the GameCube controller's button layout was pretty fuckin great

Like there's a reason Nintendo keeps remaking it and third parties also keep remaking it

@coriander The reason is Smash :) But I do like it a lot in general, yeah

@coriander The gamecube controller feels opinionated, which can be a good thing. If you make a neutral controller, every game will feel fine. But if you make a controller like the GCC, people who lean into what that controller wants to do will make games that feel really good with it

@amy Yeah, that's a good way of putting it, like

You have to build controls around the controller a little bit, but not in a bad way, I don't think

@coriander If the GCC had sticks you could click, a ZL button, a select button, I'd use it for a lot more things I think. Bonus points for a better d-pad

@amy There's this company that sells Switch controllers with the GameCube layout and GOD I am so tempted every time I see them

Look at that

it's beautiful

@aescling @amy Man this is incredibly cool but also I'd much rather just spend the 70 bucks to get the ones from the internet =P

@coriander @amy yeah it wasn't an actual recommendation i just think the purroject was very cool
