The American Pageant has a two-page spread on why socialism never really happened in the US and i have three initial thoughts on this

1. very loaded question; the US has a long and proud socialist history that was deeply involved in labor and the various Important civil rights movements. this never manifested in a working class Party or anything like that but socialist influence was very, very, very important in recent US history!!
2. a two-page spread is far too short to really properly address this question
3. racism.
