gotta love how we can put 3,000 miles on our car in a week, including nearly a full tank of gas in the city of Chicago, and have zero incidents with other vehicles until within 5 miles of home

gotta fucking love I-635

we grew up with warnings of what driving in chicago is like and just... nah, that's not stressful at all after dallas. sure, traffic speed is 15 over posted but people actually use their turn signals, give each other space, and drive less because the public transportation actually approaches usable

@starfall i hear public transport in south side is pretty shit though unfortunately

@starfall on a completely different note, have ny’all ever driven in california? even as just a passenger it is terrifying

@aescling nope! we were too young when we lived in cali to be driving

just traffic jams forever i thought? we know how to deal with those and it's "stay in your lane, leave space, ignore everyone merging into it"

@starfall there are moments with all sorts of hills/rises and falls with extremely low visibility in front of you; was not a fan

@aescling that doesn't surprise us in the slightest given what we know of the demographics
