Does anyone know how much I should be watering my tomatoes? I did three large watering-cans full today, but I don't know if that's enough. Or too much.

When I was watering this morning a small gray and black bird flew down and landed on one of the stakes about a foot away from my hand. Then it flew away again. It was pretty cool!

I've read that some of the tomato plants I have could grow to five to 8 ft tall. That's pretty hard to imagine. But if it happens, I guess I'm going to have to replace the stakes I have now. They're only about 3 ft tall.

@Quasit you should water until the soil is fully saturated (aka, water is coming out the bottom of the pots) and water whenever to top inch-ish of soil feels dry. how often “top inch of soil feels dry” happens will depend on the weather, and the soil:plant ratio
