Walked myself to the gallery today because why not, and they had an exhibition of B I G indigenous art (like every canvas was as tall as a person at least) and tl;dr here are some and they slapped.

Historically a lot of the Indigenous art displayed in galleries here has been in very traditional styles/colors, which is also cool, but the way it's presented can sometimes have a kind of… colonialist/anthropological sneer to it? Like "yes look at these Historical Works of Ancient Culture" kinda vibe?

So it was amazing to see the gallery have a whole exhibition dedicated to showcasing that this is still a living art tradition coming from a living culture. Particularly since yeah the works were truly just fucking awesome to look at, lol.
