I turned off all the bullshit "smart answer" "AI" features from Spotlight in macOS and now it won't do maths???
Like there are literally two things I use Spotlight for:
1. opening applications by name, and
b. doing basic sums (sorry not sorry to all my high school maths teachers, you tried).
Both of these are completely basic bitch functions that computers have been doing for, conservatively, decades if not longer. Neither of them require the electricity and water consumption of a small city, nor do they require accessing any off-device resources.
I do not want to talk to Spotlight. I do not want it to summarize webpages or files on my computer. I do not want it to pretend to me to be a person. I just want it to do sums and open programs. This should be simple! It's exactly how Spotlight has operated for years now! And yet!!!!
A small, community‐oriented Mastodon‐compatible Fediverse (GlitchSoc) instance managed as a joint venture between the cat and KIBI families.
@Satsuma@glitch.cat.family There's probably some magic configuration of settings to make it work again but it's like... I don't want to have to fuss around to find it??? I just want my "no 'smart features' ever" button and to do my little sums without having to open calculator or the browser.
