Overhearing literary discussion and these people need to read more fucked up things further from the literary canon. "Is it possible to have a protagonist who doesn't represent the author?"

@Satsuma from the context they sounded convinced that every author has a self insert somewhere in every story, and that it's usually the protagonist. The more they talk the more baffling things I hear

@apprendere have they not ever read multiple books by the same author? even fairly within the literary canon its fairly clear that the protagonists of Great Expectations and Bleak House are different people

@Satsuma I don't know, but I overheard enough (table beside me eating lunch) to think that knowing that answer wouldn't help understand
