So I’m nonbinary, so the terms boyfriend and girlfriend feel equally incorrect. Partner is fine but has different connotations than are appropriate for a new relationship that is perhaps a bit more casual. So I eventually decided I liked the term joyfriend. I can’t remember where I heard it but it spoke to me.
Anyway, autocorrect keeps insisting it’s BOYfriend and I’m like “STOP MISGENDERING ME YOU MINDLESS HUNK OF CHEAP CIRCUITS!!”
Autocorrect is the worst. But also I can’t fucking type on a screen keyboard very well without it. So I’m stuck. And they keep enshittifying it too. Ugh.
@TheBookewyrme aw thats such a nice term!
i hope your autocorrect knocks it off with the miss corrections soon! or maybe theres some way to manually add words to its dictionary?
@TheBookewyrme haha yeah i have taught spellcheck the names of many blorbos without manually adding! so that route is definitely also possible, if frustrating in the meanwhile
@TheBookewyrme my wife says she thinks it auto adds anything in your contacts list to spellcheck so thats one option i guess? i think a few years back when i was doing some transcription work with unusual terms, i successfully got it to stop uncorrecting them by putting the correct spelling in both fields of the text replacement list (so in your example, telling it to replace “shrug” with “shrug”) but idk if that one still works
@Satsuma oh that’s an interesting idea. Worth a try (the second thing).
@TheBookewyrme i hope it works for you!!
@Satsuma Yea exactly. Sadly I looked and while I can add a huge variety of organized dictionaries or make a text replacement (so like when I type the word shrug it gives me the option to replace with ¯\_(ツ)_/¯) but no way to add an individual word to the dictionary that I saw. Stupid Apple.
