I'm guessing there's been some sort of beetle boom, or some other tasty insect, because the crows have been destroying our neighborhood for months. I'm anti lawn so I don't really care about the aesthetic part, but it makes the sidewalks so muddy and I hate that.
@Satsuma it's so severe, the first time I saw a tilled patch, I thought it must be raccoons! But now we've seen gangs of corvids flipping huge chunks of sod. I should try to get it on video.
I've been blaming the crows but we have just as many ravens and our crows are massive. so unless they have a big beard and say gronk, I'm not always sure who is who. It could be the ravens.
@Satsuma It just occurred to me that this must be a social behavior and they've taught all their friends 😭 it started small, only a couple of patches last year, but this summer and fall it's everywhere!
