Here's our first property from Finland! The kitchen is in the bathroom. Or the bathroom is in the kitchen? Either way, I guess they're keeping all the smells in one room.

@weirdestate i assume this was a “wanting all the plumbing to be in one place bc its cheaper” rather than putting all the smells in one place but also the idea of having a toilet in my kitchen is really squicking me out

@Satsuma @weirdestate Another conversation thread (in Finnish language) also revealed that the landlord is living literally behind the (thin) wall, so it would also mean that any noise could cause problems. That is hundred years old building, so one shouldn't be expecting any noise insulation between apartments.

@iju Outside walls are often big on old buildings, but sometimes indoor walls are literally filled with sawdust. After a century, that sawdust is likely no longer filling the whole gap between the indoor walls, allowing sound to travel more freely between apartments. That is also a fire safety hazard. (Speaking from practical experience after having lived in one of that kind of 1920s buildings.)
