So there's a new title on the nonbinary circuit: Mg.

The original Tumblr member who posted it said:

'since mrs, ms, and mr are all descended from the latin word magister, i propose the gender neutral version should be mg, short for "mage"'

A question for #nonbinary people:

Hypothetically assuming the go-to nonbinary title is Mg, how would you want it to be said out loud in front of your name? ("Mg FirstName LastName")

@gendercensus i can see Magister being somewhat confusing as one might assume it was a title for people who have received a magister degree (much as we refer to people who have received a doctorate as doctors): en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magist but “confusable for a title which does not actually exist” is still preferable to mage imo

@gendercensus also since i think it’s etymologically related and certainly sounds quite similar, a question for people who live places where Magistrates are a extant government position: are they referred to with magistrate as a title the same way you might say “governor so and so”?
