@gendercensus i can see Magister being somewhat confusing as one might assume it was a title for people who have received a magister degree (much as we refer to people who have received a doctorate as doctors): https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magister_degree but “confusable for a title which does not actually exist” is still preferable to mage imo
@gendercensus also since i think it’s etymologically related and certainly sounds quite similar, a question for people who live places where Magistrates are a extant government position: are they referred to with magistrate as a title the same way you might say “governor so and so”?
