At what point are we, "the Fediverse" collectively, no longer to blame for what people on other instances do? Is it enough to block them? To recommend that others block them, a la thebadspace or fediblock? Or is the fact that someone who runs software that would theoretically be compatible with ours is saying something awful automatically and without question a blemish on all of us?

like, when we talk about the fediverse being a space that's dominated by white transfems and has problems because of it - a sentiment i basically agree with - the reason for that is that we're excluding the parts of the fediverse that are run by and cater mostly to transphobic cis people, right? there are tons of those, but we don't include them in "the fediverse". so obviously, for most of us, there is some level of disconnection that is enough for us not to include some instances in our conception of our part of the network.
so what is that?
re: meta again
@akjcv i have a more pragmatic choice
our tiny instance is for fun and silly games.
we don't tolerate any of the shit out there, and specifically transphobia isn't the only bright line.
frankly, it's not our problem nor any of our business, if i get a whiff of server-wide problematic behaviour anywhere, they get a block, because i don't have any free time to argue with dipshits
re: meta again
@wohali but i don't think that excludes you or your instance from the blame that people cast at "the fediverse", right?
